  • 30 Jun 2008 Challenge for the week: Framework
Challenge for the week: maintaining your framework with your partner for one complete song, either in Latin or Ballroom.
    Check points:
elbow to elbow - one straight line across
flat back and shoulders pulled down into the sockets
in normal postion - head looking left along the inside of the arm (both man and lady) - this is called 'Half Left'
in promenade position (both partners travelling forward towards man's left) - head is in 'Full Left' for man, where he's looking along the outside of his left arm. Head is at 'Full Right' position for the lady, where she's looking along the outside of her right arm. Both partner should be looking in the direction of travel.
man's right hand should form a straight line from index finger to elbow, pointing slightly downwards, resting the fingers on her shoulder blade (without palm). Your left hand should be at her eye level, in between the lady and yourself. Remember to close all fingers, including thumb!
lady's left hand should rest gently at the end of his right shoulder muscle (deltoid), clasping on with your middle finger and thumb ONLY - this will give you an illusion of being light. Be aware to keep your elbow lifted and gently 'rest' on his arm, instead of leaning on it. Your partner will greatly appreciate this:). Your right hand should rest gently in his hand, keeping a straight line from thumb to elbow.
a slight variation to the Tango hand hold, where man's right hand is slightly further across her back instead of on her shoulder blade, and lady's left hand is placed under his right arm, hooking her right thumb under his arm (half way between elbow to armpit) and pointing her (closed) fingers towards his armpit.
